15 - Johnny Winter

John Dawson Winter was born in 1944, guitarist and producer.

started playing with his brother Edgar, now famous keyboard player, just a TV show in 10 years.

At age 15 he formed his first group Johnny and the Jammers and affects the individual School Day Blues.

began to be known as a guitar virtuoso and attend concerts of blues artists of the likes of Muddy Waters (of which will become the producer) and BB King.

In 1967 he recorded with Roy Head & The Traits a single country and the year after his first album The Progressive Blues Experiment with blues covers such as It's My Own Fault by BB King, Sonny Boy Williamson's Help Me and I Got Love If You Want It Slim Harpo.

His big opportunity came when Mike Bloomfield, famous blues guitarist, invited him to play at a concert at the legendary Fillmore East in New York.
Winter plays and sings a song by BB King It's My Own Fault and has an outstanding success.

E 'official put its launch, signing a contract with Columbia in 1969 and released the album Johnny Winter with Tommy Shannon on bass, Uncle John Turner on drums, his brother Edgar on keyboards and two legendary names as Willie Dixon on bass and Walter Horton on harmonica.

The album is a great success and opened the doors of the great rock festivals like Woodstock era in which he participates with his group.

Second Winter always comes out with his brother Edgar and strange for that time is a triple album, however, where both sides are empty, then repeat with songs in its concerts, including Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry, Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan.

And then two tracks by Little Richard Slippin 'and Slidin and Miss Ann and her pieces as Hustled Down in Texas, Fast Life Rider, I Love Everybody and I'm Not Sure.

Edgar starts his solo career and formed his band Edgar Winter's White Trash.

Johnny reform the band with guitarist Rick Derringer on guitar, bassist Randy Jo Hobbs on bass and Randy Z, Derringer's brother, on drums, but the consumption of heroin forced him to leave the scene.

returns in 1973 with Still Alive and Well, a good album blues and the year after Saints & Sinners, always very nice.

In 1975 Thunderhead album with Pat Rush and Bobby "T" Torello.

In 1977 he produced the album of the great Muddy Waters Hard Again which immediately became a best sellers and starring James Cotton on harmonica, another myth of the blues.

Winters then produces two other two works of Waters I'm Ready with Big Walter Horton on harmonica and the famous King Bee.

In recent years he has continued to affect very beautiful album, continuing his work as a producer.

His latest work is The Woodstock Experience which includes live recordings of the famous festival in 1968.
A very nice way to listen to where you can listen to the tracks recorded at the time by Santana, Janis Joplin, Sly & the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, and of course by the same Winter.

A vintage bluesman but never arrived to great success, a very good musician, perhaps damaged by a less than positive image and a very special character behavior.
